Northwest Says Goodbye To Two Teachers!

After more than three decades of teaching, beloved educator Michael Glenn will be retiring at the end of this year. Mr. Glenn has been a Social Studies teacher at Northwest for 37 years and has also led the Quiz Bowl team through many years of success. In honor of his retirement, members of the quiz bowl team gave a speech and presented him with a scrapbook at this year’s Honor’s Banquet. Thank you for all you have done for us, Mr. Glenn. You will be greatly missed! Happy Retirement!

Northwest will be losing a great Algebra teacher next year. Mrs. Henry is going back to her homeschool Green to teach 7th and 8th Grade math. She has taught at Northwest High School for three years and Northwest Middle School for one year. She also coached JV Volleyball this year. Mrs. Henry is a very loving teacher and will be greatly missed. When asked what she will miss the most is all the students and the welcoming faculty that accepted her when she came here. We will miss you Mrs. Henry and thank you for everything and good luck!

Mohawk Idol

Friday, May 11th, the Northwest High School held the finale for the 2012 Mohawk Idol Competition. The competition was close with only a 9 vote difference separating the winner and 2nd place. Both Carly Harness and Brooklyn Jones performed beautifully during the finale, but in the end the title of Mohawk Idol fell to sophomore Preston Hall with a work he had written himself. The first showing of this year’s senior video and some humorous renditions from the immediately local “band”, The Replacements wrapped up the performances. The production of Mohawk Idol was produced, sponsored, and made possible by the Northwest Art and Media Club advised by Mr. Chris Enz.

Congratulations Preston!

Clothes Closet

For the past year, Northwest High School has made accessible a community ‘closet’ for students to have access to anything they may need. The Clothes Closet has everything from toiletries and school supplies to shoes and prom dresses available and all completely for free! In the past, the Clothes Closet has also organized giveaways for special occasions where students could come and receive items for themselves or as gifts for others. Donations of supplies, clothing or money to the Clothes Closet are welcome and a great help to the school and students. See Mrs. Arnett at the high school for access, information or donation drop-offs.
